The Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah came before the Taj Mahal and has intricate inlay work and beautiful gardens.

Mehtab Bagh
45 minutes
A Charbagh garden with stunning views of the Taj Mahal, good for photography and quiet reflection.

Chini Ka Rauza

The tomb of Afzal Khan, showing Persian architecture with distinctive glazed tile work.

Sikandra (Akbar’s Tomb)

The tomb of Emperor Akbar, in a vast garden complex that blends Hindu, Islamic and Persian architectural styles.

Mariam’s Tomb

The final resting place of Mariam-uz-Zamani, wife of Akbar, known for its simple and elegant architecture.

Dayalbagh

A spiritual community and temple complex, still under construction, that reflects the universal teachings of the Radha Soami sect.

Best time to visit
Early morning or late afternoon, especially in summer, to avoid the heat.
Dress code
Wear modest clothing, as these are religious and historical sites. Cover your shoulders and knees.
Transportation
A private vehicle for the day is the easiest way to move between the sites.
What to carry
A bottle of water, some light snacks and your camera.
Footwear
Many sites ask you to take your shoes off, so wear shoes that are easy to remove.
